Do I need my own flute to start?
Yes, having an instrument at home is essential for regular practice. Muscle memory for your embouchure (lip shape) develops through brief, frequent sessions. If you do not own one yet, our instructors can recommend durable, easy-blowing starter flutes (standard closed-hole models) before you buy.

Can younger children learn the flute?
Generally, students can start from ages 7 to 8, depending on physical reach and lung capacity. For younger or petite learners, flutes equipped with a curved headjoint can be used to bring the keys closer, preventing neck and back strain while developing proper finger placement.

Is it difficult to make a sound on the flute?
Unlike woodwinds that use a reed, producing sound on a flute requires directing a focused air stream across the lip plate (much like blowing across an open bottle). With hands-on posture and embouchure coaching, most students produce a clear, stable tone within their very first lesson.
